Industry executives and government leaders gathered at the Homeland Security & Defense Business Council’s (Council) Annual Dinner at the Willard InterContinental Washington on December 15th. Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh C. Johnson delivered the keynote remarks at the event praising the men and women at the Department for their dedication to the mission, highlighting progress made during his tenure, and discussing the threats our nation will continue to face.
At the event, the organization recognized Soraya Correa, Chief Procurement Officer, U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS); for Exceptional Service in Support for Industry-Government Engagement.
“It is always an honor to gather with our members and government colleagues at our Annual Dinner to pay tribute to the work that is done each and every day to keep our country safe,” Marc Pearl, Council President & CEO. “The Council was particularly proud to host Secretary Johnson as he approaches the end of his service leading DHS. We were also so pleased to thank Soraya Correa for her leadership, and most notably, for creating the Acquisition Innovations in Motion initiative that has promoted greater transparency and information sharing between industry and government.”
The Council’s Annual Dinner is a year-end celebration of the organization’s mission to engage industry and government officials in the homeland security enterprise. Council members Attain, Deloitte, Grant Thornton, and Microsoft co-sponsored the event.
